FINANCIAL LOSS:

The longer the bird infestation remains, the more expensive it will become. By continuously spending time and resources cleaning up droppings and removing nests off buildings, you will notice a build up of costs that could have been avoided. The constant repair and the continual need of unblocking drains and the damage to building services, air conditioning, insulation and ultimately capital restoration for repairing masonry, the repainting of surfaces and replacement of corroded materials, etc. In some cases they can physically damage window frames, seals, solar panels, hot water systems, etc.

If you own, run or manage a company specialising in the packaging and shipping of stock. The losses associated due to damage from droppings, nesting material and birds being physically destructive can have a detrimental effect on repackaging/ reshipping costs.

PROPERTY DAMAGE:

Bird droppings are very acidic and can cause accelerated deterioration of roof sheeting, masonry surfaces, permanent staining and corrosion of a variety of materials. Nesting birds can cause extensive damage to roofs, eaves, monuments, plumbing/guttering etc.

Birds nesting around building ventilation, air conditioning and guttering will cause them to clog and work ineffectively with an end, result of serious damage and will also expose people to a variety of viral diseases, bacteria and viruses.

PUBLIC IMAGE:

The appearance of bird feces, nests and debris are unsightly and this type of fouling will smell unpleasant and negatively affect the aesthetics of the building and company that resides in it. It will put off potential customers/clients, and negatively affect the morale of staff. Is it worth the risk to your business?

HEALTH & SAFETY:

The presence of bird droppings at entrances, on roofs, footpaths and on stairs are hazardous as people can slip, so it is imperative that organizations take action to prevent injury and the possibility of being sued.

Birds and their droppings carry allergens, parasites, bacteria and other health risks to humans. Even birds which appear healthy can carry disease.

Gulls are an ever increasing problem with their continual swooping when they are nesting in nearby locations.

PARASITES & INSECTS:

Over fourty parasites and insects can live either on birds, in their nests or in the places they roost.

Some of the parasites and insects associated with birds include fleas, ticks, mites, lice and bed bugs. They are well known to invade from the birds actual roost sites that are found in and around buildings and coming into contact with people that are carrying out their day to day activities.

FUNGAL DISEASES

Histoplasmosis – A respiratory disease similar to pneumonia can affect humans when the feces are disturbed, the spores from the feces become airborne, and can result in the inhalation of these spores which can lead to this illness.

Cryptococcosis – is yeast found in the digestive tract of Pigeons and Starlings. It is found mainly in long term established roosting sites. In humans it affects the lungs and nervous system.

Psittacosis – This can be contracted from birds again usually due to the inhalation of dry droppings being disturbed. This causes fever, chills, headaches and cough leading to inflammation of the heart, liver and nervous systems.

BACTERIAL DISEASES

Salmonellosis -Salmonella bacteria live in the intestines of birds/animals and often occur in food poisoning cases. It is found in the bird droppings of Pigeons, Starlings and Sparrows. It can be spread when their fecal matter comes in contact with food or contaminate water sources from dust of droppings or passed on through handling surfaces containing the bacteria.

Chlamydiosis – Active roosts present this risk and it is widespread in Pigeon populations and some seabirds may also be carriers. Infection can occur through inhalation of droppings, feather dust or other secretions of infected birds.

Cause

We can evict all birds from nesting under solar panels and is now quite common to find pigeons to be the main culprits and create the most damage. The solar panels obviously provide great protection from the elements and they provide the same type of sanctuary for pigeons (Rock Doves) that they are generally familiar with within the urban environment landscape.

Damage:

When pigeons and other pest bird species are allowed to continue nest under and perch on solar panels they will eventually create a great deal of mess and fouling from the accumulation of droppings and debris from nesting material which will lead to the overflowing of the roof guttering and blocking of drains and spouting.
Also it is important to mention in particular with dealing with pigeons they are quite damaging by reducing the efficiency of the panels over time with their droppings on the panels and their droppings are corrosive which could lead to electrolysis with the variety of materials and fixings directly related to the solar panels.

How we can help:

We can permantely stop the different variety of pest birds from nesting under solar panels and prevent them from landing on the leading edge of the solar panels.
To stop birds from nesting under the solar panels we install a barrier mesh to the perimeter of the solar panels and the mesh is backed with a 10 year manufactures warranty. We install the mesh to the outer perimeter where we use a very unique patented fastening system where no drilling or penetrating of the outer panels so no damage or voiding of warranties will occur. Once the barrier has been installed and now the pigeons have been evicted and are not allowed to continually nest and are not protected and are exposed to the elements they will now move on.
